Kristen Stewart in Balenciaga at the Met Gala: super-cute or super-fug?

Kristen Stewart attended the Met Gala last night. Do you find that shocking? You shouldn’t. Kristen is now the face of Balenciaga, and Nicolas Ghesquiere (I think that’s him) was her date. So… what do I like about this look? Two things. One, I really like her hair. It’s not particularly high-fashion or anything, and yes, it’s not right for the event, but I think her hair looks great here. Great color, great body, and I just love the curl. Two, I like that Kristen is actually trying, experimenting and having fun with fashion. She’s young – she has time to make big fashion mistakes, and I do like her more for trying.

That being said, this look is awful. Everything is just horrible – and it’s not Kristen’s fault. Sort of. I would imagine that as Ghesquiere’s date/muse and the official face of Balenciaga, Kristen would have had her choice, her pick. I don’t believe that Ghesquiere MADE her wear this. But he probably encouraged it, which makes this mostly his fault. As a designer, I feel he should have made a real choice here: color-block or reptile print. NOT BOTH. Put the two together, and you’ve just made a pretty young woman look like a color-blind crackie.

Also terrible: Kristen’s shoes. It looks like she’s wearing her beloved Converse, only in hideous bandage form.

    • Maguita says:

      The ugliest.

I usually like her red-carpet style, but this was not a Met-worthy look. Especially for Balanciaga. Odd how they keep dressing her in all that leather all the time. Remember her Paris Fashion week look?

Her people should’ve just said NO. No matter the contract. She would have looked better wearing nothing but a big Balanciaga shawl around her.

      • phlyfiremama says:

Agreed, which pains me to say~I do love KStew’s style. Sigh. Oh, well.

    • CTgirl says:

I blame KS, her stylist, and the designer. KS should have refused to wear this piece of garbage. Just because it has a designer name on it doesn’t mean that it’s any good. The styling is horrible with that rat’s nest hair (please take the extensions out KS). The dress is ill-fitting and the shoes are a joke. Another fashion fail by KS.

      • Maguita says:

She is the face of the label, and is contractually obligated not only to wear their sh-t, but to also attend fashion events. So KS had no choice in the matter.

Still cannot understand how anyone, from any side, thinks this is acceptable for the Balanciaga brand.

      • CTgirl says:

@Maquita, KS is the face of their new fragrance, not the brand. And the celebrity and her stylist can always say no. That’s always built into the contract. KS isn’t a slave.

      • Maguita says:

@CT, I haven’t read the particulars of the contract, maybe you have, but from interviews during fashion week in Paris, it was stated that she was the face of the brand, no specifications to only their perfume.

Balanciaga’s objective was to attract younger customers to buy their handbags, and clothes, that were always considered too higher end for young clients… But again, I haven’t read the contract. And usually, like for example Marion Cotillard (Christian Dior), when you are promoting the brand’s perfume, you are expected to also wear their clothes to certain specific events, not necessarily all red carpets. Just particular ones.

      • Little Edie Beale says:

I’m sure she was given options. She’s a celebrity under contract with a fashion house, not a slave. This was obviously what all parties thought looked good.

But Stewart’s dead eyes, bored expression and bad posture are evident no matter what she wears.

    • Tiffany says:

I know. And this is the same guy who designed Nicole Kidman’s dress for her marriage to Keith Urban. I thought that dress was beautiful. What is this!!

    • Jessie says:

OMG she does not know fashion! I’m only 11, and know more fashion than Kristen Stewart. Maybe if you minus the heels into pumps, and the dress into a light blue strapless dress it might look better than waht she’s wearing….

    • bros says:

she looks like vivian from pretty woman or whatever julia roberts’ hooker persona was. yech

  2. ladybert62 says:

The dress is horrid; the shoes are horrid and so is the hair.

    • OlsenTriplet says:

Is the hair that bad? I kind of like it…

But someone explain to me how anyone other than a recalcitrant three year old–an actress, a fashion designer, a stylist–looks at this outfit and says, “This is it. This is the look we want.”

Is it that fashion is a trickle-down process and you really have to throw an outfit in a super weird and fugly and strange direction so it might influence the fashion conversation as it gets gradually more sensible and closer to consumers?

  3. Bite me aka aniston says:

Damn her face looks really good

  4. Stubbylove says:

Completely inappropriate for this event – twit.

    • jdub says:

obviously you don’t understand this event.

I don’t care for her look but i’m sure it was appreciated within the fashion crowards.

      • Stubbylove says:

I get this is a fashion event – it’s also the MET Gala – you can do high/forward fashion without looking like you stepped out of an 80’s Cindy Lauper video. Give me a break.

  5. brin says:

    Worst dressed feet down.

  6. liza says:

Hate might be a strong word, but I really really really dislike her. She gets opportunities that many people will never have in their entire lives, and she shows up looking like a damn sourpuss, with greasy hair and a stained skirt and looking like she doesn’t care about anything. Get the f over yourself.

    /rant over

    • Lila says:

Dude, the designer is with her and she’s the face of his brand…He obviously had a major part in choosing her look ( Balenciaga itself is fugly in my opinion) so I would not jump all over her for the style.

    • Happymom says:

I’m with you. Why oh why is this girl famous? Her acting is atrocious, she has the same expression, she’s not particularly pretty and she’s definitely not interesting. And yes, her attitude sucks.

    • Orly says:

I didn’t see the marks on the skirt until you mentioned it, it’s probably just from her sweaty palms or something.

      • mel says:

OR you could look at it from the perspective that she showed up, is doing her job, her face looks gorgeous, she is under contract so she didn’t choose the look, and give her some credit for being professional. As for her expression…I don’t know..she just looks really uncomfortable in that outfit. Like she knows its not working and its awkard.

      • liza says:

no I WILL NOT “give her credit” for being professional. Why should she be treated like a little baby? She is a grown woman who can turn down opportunities if she doesn’t want them. I am so tired of people making excuses for her.

      • Orly says:

Mel, kstew is not the only person there who was doing their job. How do you know she didn’t choose the outfit? She may have been given a few options and chose that one. You don’t know.
As for looking/being uncomfortable, that’s par for the course with her, non?

      • mel says:

Your right…I don’t know if she chose her outfit…it just seems likely she didn’t since she works with a designer. I’m not making excuses for her…I don’t understand your comment “treating her like a baby” and I don’t get your hostility. I comment on her work ethic and SNAP…its on. Its cool…got take what comes in the comment section.

      • Orly says:

Mel, you are responding to 2 separate comments. I commented about her having options and choosing from those. Someone else made the “treating her like a baby” comment.

      • mel says:

So responding to two different comments in one response is a no no? I don’t mean that facetious either…I’m just curious why it matters….

      • Orly says:

It matters because you didn’t separate your comment and it seemed like you were still addressing me.
I don’t own this site, I can’t tell you how to respond.
It just makes sense to have a clear separation if you’re addressing 2 people in the same post. It prevents confusion.

    • Ming says:

Ssssshh, shhhhh, it’s all okay liza, calm down.

It’s just Kristen Stewart. Both of you can live happily ever after on our cool little planet earth.

      Promise.

      • Rice says:

HAHA! Thanks Ming. I value people’s opinion but I think Liza is taking it a bit too far. Lighten up and don’t get your panties in a bunch over something you can’t control.

      • Little Edie Beale says:

Maybe she should have looked into endorsing a brand of jeans or sneakers. That seems to be what she really likes to wear.

Also about Balenciaga ‘forcing’ her to wear this outfit. I refuse to believe it’s some kind of dictatorship where Kristen or her people have no say. I’m sure they gave her options. And she also has a personal stylist who should be working with the label to create the look. Obviously everybody involved thought this was appropriate. It’s not.

She’s a far cry from their previous muses, Jennifer Connelly and Charlotte Gainsbourg. She doesn’t fit. She looks bored. Fashion isn’t her thing, fine. But then just stay home.

    • torrent says:

      dear liza,

      your overinvestment is showing.

      • liza says:

My overinvestment in what? Maybe it’s the fact that I’m about to lose my job, but just looking at her scowling with her greasy hair, acting like she can’t be bothered to give a crap, that she’s not surrounded by glamorous people at a glamorous event….I can’t take it anymore.

      • Ming says:

There are probably a lot of snotty celebrity aliens out in space.

Do you want to rant at them too about your current job situation ?

      • liza says:

I have no doubt there are tons of snotty celebrities. But she’s the only one my age with boundless opportunities that she takes and squashes at every turn with her snotty face.

      • torretn says:

liza-your overinvestment is still showing throughout this thread. These are just a series of shots of her looking a little goofy. I’m not a fan of the look, and sometimes she acts like an idiot. But it’s personal with you, the way you keep projecting the notion she has entitlement issues she squanders while having greasy hair.

      • Ming says:

Oh dear, even if Kristen Stewart would behave in a way that would be more appealing to you liza – it still doesn’t change the circumstances of your own life.

Except you tell me now, that it will make everything better.

    • spinner says:

Hi Liza…I am sorry to hear about your job situation. I am sure this colours your attitude to a certain degree today. I will hold good thoughts for you in securing another position. I guess it is better to vent this way than to take it out on someone in close proximity. Best of luck to you.

    • Shakes says:

Amen!!!! What you said, ditto, times 2. Just looking at her surly face makes me want to shake my head. Does anyone else see how unhappy this child is? It’s one thing to be a serious, private actress – but if this was just an act then an unintentional smile would have slipped out by now. She’s apathetic and unpleasant, at best. As for outfit…I don’t think she cares. Wearing something hideously ugly sort of slaps the fashion establishment / Hollywood glitterati in the face, doesn’t it? You want me to show up to these stupid events for fashion? Here it is, in your face. Now if this was anyone else taking a stand like this it might be admirable, but from her it’s just another b*tchy look from someone who appears to be incredibly ungrateful for her life of bottomless privilege.

  7. Jordan says:

FUG! The 1980’s were bad enough, we don’t need to time warp back there! This looks completely inappropriate for the event and too try hard to get noticed.

  8. The Original Mia says:

    Fug.

  9. marie says:

I’m with you-love the hair and even the top of the dress but the bottom is bad. The shoes though, I can see Kristen picking those out herself..

  10. spinner says:

Good Lord…it looks like a 1st grader dressed her. NO!!!

  11. Orly says:

Oh this is terrible. The whole outfit is just wrong.

It’s not surprising that she was at the MET Gala, I think she went the past 2 years or something.

  12. Little Edie Beale says:

While this dress is fug-you need the attitude for Balenciaga high fashion and Kristen DOES NOT have it.

The hair is greasy and undone, the dress is ugly and doesn’t fit properly, her posture is hideous as usual and she looks miserable and bored. She obviously doesn’t really want to be there. She didn’t even try, and yes, that’s her fault.

You can also see her greasy hand prints all over the skirt.

This is the second time she’s worn Balenciaga since her contract started and the both times were a total miss. This relationship just isn’t working out.

  13. Kaye says:

Don’t care for the dress but her face is beautiful. I think when she’s 30 she’ll be magnificent.

    • WTF says:

Since when is high, bored, open mouth magnificent?
She is nothing but hype who makes average to ugly girls feel pretty because she isn’t threatening to them in beauty nor intellect. Perfect projection object which is why she was cast in Twilight.

      • Ming says:

        @wtf

People have different tastes and they don’t wish to be called all these very nice things you just listed up, just because they think KStew is pretty.

      • torrent says:

yeah, I think she’s gonna get prettier with age too.

WTF, you’re really passionate about her. Talk about projecting. lol

      • Michele says:

Robert Pattinson seems to think she’s fine just the way she is! She caught his eye and he’s been by her side ever since! Robert could probably have any girl he wishes but he only wants Kristen. HA!

      • Orly says:

What the hell does Robert Pattinson have to do with this post? I think y’all are on the wrong blog.

  14. inessa says:

This look is just awful. OMG are these people blind?
But the worst thing are the shoes. The hell are those things? And chunky heels? Really, chunky heels at the Met Gala? For the love of God, either you are prepared to wear pumps or stay home.

  15. Agnes says:

ugly dress and shoes. and she doesn’t do them any favors – her facial expressions are always so terrible and annoying.

  16. jess says:

If this were the MTV award show or a premiere it would be fine. I think for the met gala shes a little underdressed. The shoes, however, are the ugliest things I have ever seen. That ruins the complete outfit. Still not the worst look of the night.

  17. Reece says:

Well, um, the dress doesn’t bug me THAT much…at least it’s not up her ass like usually.
I seriously thought she was wearing socks for a minute. I think school girl is what they were going for but fail miserably. Look at it from far away. They’re trying to pull off school girl!

  18. Jen says:

This actually might be my favorite look of the night – it’s so fun!

  19. Sisi says:

the lady on the left in the last pic isn’t liking Kristens outfit either…

flawless side-eye and bitchface in one.

  20. Rice says:

I agree that Kristen Stewart does make some effort on the red carpet. I also know that the Met Gala is supposed to be “avant garde” fashion but this is more “ridicule garde”.

  21. Mourning the Death of Music says:

I’m not digging any of it.

  22. carrie says:

    worst outfit of the night

  23. nora says:

It’s Balenciaga. Of course it’s not going to be the prettiest or frilliest thing in the room. Their minimalist with a side of punk rock actually suits her. She looks awkward in frilly gowns, this is more her style. The skirt needs to be fitted better though, and lifted slightly.

    Yo, and Nicolas is hot.

    • Monkey Jim says:

Exactly – its Balenciaga, not effing Marchesa! I like top half, bottom, not so much. Don’t think they’ve pulled anything that’s quite right for her yet – does not bode well for SWATH promo when every Tom, Dick & Harry will be comparing her red carpet steeze with goddess Charlize – unenviable.
But… I’d rather edgy over dull any day, and she has a beautiful face.

      • Crystal says:

Um.No. This look is neither dull nor edgy. It’s a mess. Her look at the MET Gala 2011 was beautiful without being dull. This outfit looks like she let one of her haters dress her.

      • salazar says:

It’s an improvement from last year’s. She looked like a walking piece of furniture in material that drowned her. This isn’t perfect by any means, don’t like the combination with the shoes especially, but at least it’s fun and has some edgey elements.

  24. another nina says:

Thank you, I was waiting for this post. I literary was expecting someone to start screaming how gorgeous this outfit is. Best dressed? Really Glamour??? Fashion icon – really Lainey???
I’m glad we are all on the same page – it’s horrible, pretentious and mismatched. (To be fair, the skirt looks ok from the back – it has black patent leather blocks there.)

I really like her eye make-up though. she looks so pretty with cat eye.

  25. Aiobhan says:

I actually like the out fit in separates. I would wear the bustier out to a club and the skirt to work. But together the out fit is horrid. And don’t even get me started in the shoes.

  26. Hmmm says:

She lacks the panache to carry it off.

  27. Blue says:

I like her hair. That’s all I got.

  28. v says:

Curly natural hair doesn’t equal greasy! From the neck up she looks magnificent.Awesome hair and face. The dress though is unflattering and so are the shoes.

    • Michele says:

I don’t understand how anyone can say that her hair is greasy?! She has very beautiful, shiny hair and the close up shots prove that her hair is clean. She’s wearing her hair in loose, unstructured waves which I think looks very sexy on her. The make up is flawless and fresh looking on her young face. The make up artist was able to enhance her natural beauty without caking on the make up. I don’t like the dress or the shoes but I’ve never been too fond of Balenciaga. I don’t think it’s the worst looking dress of the night. I think that honor goes to either Elizabeth Banks or Florence Welch.

      • Lax says:

Stewart is having hair extensions and she doesn’t bother washing them most of the time and here her hair looks oily and awful but her stans can’t see past their bias.

      • corleone says:

I love when people talk about her “stans” and yet you sound just as passionate about her as a stan, just that you hate her. You’re the flip side of the same coin, it’s quite funny how you don’t even see it.

    • marie says:

you’re right it doesn’t, most of the time the hair is dry.. the “grease” factor everyone is talking about is styling products-which if your hair is naturally curly, you CAN NOT do without, I’ve tried and my hair looked like the business end of a q-tip..
*edit* I am not a “stan” I just felt the need to defend us curly headed folks..

  29. Ming says:

Unbelievebly fug. On the other hand, I thought that about every piece of clothes shown at MET.

Stll, exceptional fug to my eyes and KStew looks, like she agrees with me.

“God I look fug, I should have dressed up as…blah I want to leave !”

  30. mia girl says:

I like the bodice a lot , but the skirt looks like scraps fom an upholstery shoppe! The awkward length and the terrible shoes are the cherry on top of a bad couture sundae.

I agree that her hair and face look really lovely.

  31. AmbieG says:

Definitely not her best look. Dress would look so much better if it were a few inches shorter and better tailored at the waist & the shoes aren’t right for a petite girl. That being said, a couple of fashion bloggers pointed out that this is the way it was shown on the runway – although the colors of the skirt were different. I don’t think Kristen had a lot of choice. The people who are paying her to be the face of their brand say we’d love you in this – she doesn’t say no. Balenciaga could have and should have done better by her.

  32. AudreyS says:

    I love the skirt!

  33. original kate says:

    no like the mummy shoes.

  34. Day says:

She looks flawless from the neck up. That is a lot coming from me because I usually don’t find her attractive. Well…I shouldn’t say that; I usually don’t find her as attractive as people try to make her out to be. She is cute/average at best. But, here her face looks great. The dress is all sorts of wrong.

  35. hollah says:

The shoes are off. They almost look like they’re on the wrong feet or something.

  36. Aria says:

Her posture the problem, mainly when she’s standing next to her date. Not very feminine.

  37. Little Edie Beale says:

Her dead eyed, open mouthed derpy face really isn’t helping matters.

  38. TheOriginalVictoria says:

I refuse to believe that Balenciaga made thatsh-t. I believe that idiot would wear it, becauses he is sooooo….ugh.

And way to casual for the gala. Can’t wait to seew hat Gisele wore.

  39. TXCinderella says:

She can be really pretty when she tries, but the outfit really ruins it for me. So fug, and the shoes are laughable at best. She must have been high when she picked this disaster out.

  40. Help says:

I like it she stood out from all the other Prom dresses.

  41. mar says:

AWFUL!!!!!!! Seriously the whole thing sux

  42. Hope says:

The cut of the dress and the length of the skirt, as well as her god-awful shoes and styling makes her look like a Pretty Woman reject. A dumpy pretty woman reject. She is tiny and this dress makes her look pudgy! And don’t get me started on that plasticy nasty fabric. Dear lord, this girl needs her head checked, this is probably one of the most heinous outfits I’ve seen. Anywhere. Ever.

  43. Runs with Scissors says:

Love her hair and her face looks beautiful.

I like the pieces, but they don’t seem to fit or aren’t flattering.

Shoes are fun but look stupid.

The more events like this she does, the easier it’ll be to control her anxiety.

    • liza says:

Seriously? Hasn’t she been doing this FOR YEARS? Is she gonna be 30 with people still saying, “She’s just nervous!!!!”

      • Runs with Scissors says:

Probably. There are plenty of very famous actors who still suffer from anxiety no matter how many years they’re in the business.

  44. Gaia says:

Her face is the worst, it makes me want to punch her or anyone standing close. Why so miserable, the dead eyes always one second short of eyerolling are the most annoying trait about her.

  45. VV says:

I actually like the dress and shoes, just not for this particular event. She looks way too casual.

  46. Help says:

THIS IS THE MET GALA YOUR NOT SUPPOSE TO BE BORING KRISTEN STOOD OUT.

    • Orly says:

      Why are you yelling, silly?
Florence Welch stood out, so did Beyonce.
Standing out could (may) have been the objective here, but this was just not a flattering look on Kristen Stewart.
She has looked much better. The majority of people think she looked horrid, so what? There is always next time, you know.

    • bns says:

Your name really says it all. Calm down and go read Twilight for the millionth time.

  47. original almond says:

It’s so infuriating to see someone with so many opportunities thrown her way put on such an annoyed, “over it” facade. The punch to the gut is that she doesn’t even have the talent to justify it. It’s supremely annoying to see such a hack all over the place in showbuiz.

And if anyone thinks she had no say in what to wear to the MET, they need to think again. This fugfest is on her, too.

    • Ming says:

      What the heck ?

What is it with KStew that get’s people in Rick Santorum-mode ?

      • original almond says:

I live in France, I’m not up to date on American politics. But I sense it was supposed to be an insult.

      • Janet says:

We’re not all Twihards on here. She looks like she fell off a clown car in that mess. She needs to put on a decent outfit, comb her greasy hair and get that dumbass smirk off her face.

She’s a big bag of mediocrity and she bugs the hell out of me.

      • Orly says:

“What is it with KStew that get’s people in Rick Santorum-mode?”

The same thing that has you defending her throughout this thread? 😉

      • another nina says:

        🙂

      • Ming says:

        @Janet

        “She’s a big bag of mediocrity…”

Thats an opinion. Opinion ≠ fact.

“…and she bugs the hell out of me.”

        That’s a fact.

      • Monkey Jim says:

Ming: I know! It’s hilarious. It’s like Kaiser has thrown up the bat signal.

      • salazar says:

HAHAHAH, Rick Sant. — it’s true. People take her WAY too personally. Either they mistake her for their best friend or the girl who mocked them in high school.

      • Janet says:

We’re all invited to post our opinions on here. They don’t have meet with your approval. My opinion is she’s a craptastic actor and the fact is she bugs the hell out of me.

      • Crystal says:

        Don’t like the negative comments??
        Use your mouse and scroll…

      • Diana says:

Just like everyone is saying they have a right to say negative things, they should also realize that by that standar anyone who wants to defend her can do it too.

  48. QQ says:

I’ll say it again: For what the MET Gala is supposed to be about ( certainly is NOT about appeasing the Bella Swan Fanbase) and For HER this is a Win!!

    • Ming says:

The girls over at gofugyourself are kinda digging it.

Personally I find rather repulsing, but well, you said it. MET ain’t for the regulars.

  49. Anna says:

Kristen Stewart posts always bring out the overly invested people (the Twi-hards who think she is perfect and the ones who hate her just a little too much for someone they have never met, doesn’t have an impact on their life, isn’t racking up DUI’s, isn’t pulling a Chris Brown, and isn’t racist). I agree 100 percent with Kaiser’s post. Great, undone wavy hair (not greasy at all, some of you are blind) and a fashion risk. Heinous dress though. She’s the face of Balenciaga though and Nicholas (the designer) accompanied her to the Met Ball. This is obviously his vision (the guy might be blind). She’s being paid a lot of money to be one of his faces, so no, she most likely wore and was styled exactly like he wanted considering this is a fashion event and not a film premiere. I’m happy that sh seems to be standing up straight for the most part (disregarding pic 3) and that she doesn’t have a scowl on her face.

    • Orly says:

Anna, is she the face of the Balenciaga brand in general or does she just endorse fragrances? I haven’t followed the whole thing and I’m too lazy to google it. HA.

      • Anna says:

The perfume. However, I remember she wore Balenciaga to a runway show awhile ago (an outfit I actually dug, and I usually hate Balenciaga) so I’m assuming when it comes to fashion events (runway shows, MET ball) she is supposed to wear Balenciaga. Kind of like how Scarlett only reps the makeup/perfume for D & G but wears D & G a lot also. I used to read Celebitchy all the time but have only just started commenting. I have to say, I think you are one of the better posters. You have just the right amount of bitchy in your comments. Some of these people act like Kstew killed a baby kitten and then told a bunch of kids Santa isn’t real. Some of them act like she shits rainbows. It’s generally why I try and stay away from these posts, because I keep Kstew rolling my eyes at a lot of the responses.

      • Anna says:

I just realized I know way too much about fashion, considering I know exactly what Scarlett Johansson, Mia W., Kristen Stewart, Natalie Portman, and Mila Kunis’s deals are with various fashion labels.

      • another nina says:

Orly – I think it’s one new fragnance

      • Orly says:

Thanks for the info, Anna. Perhaps she is wearing Balenciaga now because the whole thing is still new. For her sake I hope it tapers off because those designs don’t flatter her body at all. My opinion, of course.
        ***
AnotherNina, thanks girl. That’s what I thought.

  50. bea says:

I wasn’t even going to click on this, but I’m so glad I did!

That might be the most amazingly-horrible ensemble I have ever seen! The ill-fitting dress appears to be made of pleather that was purchased bc you can sponge the spooj off easily.

But the SHOES!!! Unbelievable – hope Rhianna doesn’t see them or there will be a cat fight!

Obviously, she rolled her eyes at her stylist one-too-many-times!

  51. Kristen says:

This is horrible. It’s like she dressed for the MTV Movie Awards. NOT gala appropriate.

  52. Maria_Spain says:

she is like a gosth to me, her face never shows any kin of emotion…or maybe she is smeling shit all the time -_- .
Where did she buy that dress? China´s store?

  53. jdub says:

The dress is ok. the shoes suck.

When i heard she was going to MET gala i really wanted her to wear a long flowing dress and just look glammed up.
Having now gone through the pictures from last night i’m glad she didn’t.

there are so many girls with long brown hair, fair skin posing in gowns. it would be to easy for her to be just like them.
it’s nice that im always guessing about what Kstew is going to wear on the RC.

  54. Jdao says:

    Hate the shoes.

  55. Jane says:

The dress is ugly and she is sf bland. Everyone who thinks she is gorgeous has super-low standards.

    • Orly says:

      Beauty is subjective though.

Saying “Everyone who thinks she is gorgeous has super-low standards.” is just your opinion.

I don’t think she’s beautiful, but those who think she is, more power to them I guess.

      • Jane says:

Lol, it´s really not that serious, bro.

      • Orly says:

Nah, but sweeping generalisations get my goat…So do people who only pop by when there is a KS post to defend or insult her, bro.

      • Jane says:

Guess what, I´m pretty aware that my opinion is not a fact, and I´m sure so are most reasonably intelligent people. But to soothe your troubled soul I will kindly rephrase my statment: It is my opinion that people who find her gorgeous must have super-low standards. I hope you can sleep well now until the next KStew-post! xoxo

  56. original almond says:

If the designer had went with the bodice pattern all the way it would have been a different story. It would have even went with the tousled hair and the minimal make-up.
But that skirt is all sorts of horrible and the less said about the shoes the better. They usually put her in or she chooses -whichever- interesting, if not always flattering, outfits but this is horrendous.

    • Jo says:

I agree! The bodice is nice, but the skirt, not so much. I mean, she is young, so she can get away with a dress that is far from matronly, but on the same token, she usually gets it right at movie premieres. Also, poise and confidence make a big difference. Pretty girl, but she seems very uncomfortable. The shoes are also not cute.

      • original almond says:

I can totally understand the anxiety and discomfort part, but when the situation requires it I suck it up and bring it, confidence-wise. It looks like she makes no effort to pull herself by the bootstraps at these events. Coupled with the awful outfit, it doesn’t paint a pretty picture.

  57. shailee says:

nobody can polarize as much as Kristen!! her haters are so obvious, how is that hair greasy, her hair is shinny and looks cute, from the neck up she looks gorgeous, however the dress is bad, and is not her fault, Nicolas got that dress for her, she is representing HIS brand, if she had refused all of you would been calling her a ungrateful little brat, and don’t even try to deny it. And to the person who’s about to lose her job, sorry for that, but that is not a reason to hate or be so bitter towards her, she has done nothing wrong to you or anyone

  58. Crystal says:

The f*ck is this outfit…those shoes are so tragic. She’s so pretty and I love her hair but she needs to stop showing up at the MET because it seems that they don’t know what works for her. My younger sister (she’s a twi-hard…I’m hoping she’ll grow out of it) was on K-Stew’s tumblr and all her fans were salivating over her outfit. They thought she looked the best of the night and that her shoes were amazing. There can’t be a more delusional bunch of stans…I’m a fan of her and even I can admit that this look is just a hot mess. Lord.

  59. Anne Carol says:

I think this girl is bipolar. It is so weird. Crosses.

  60. bagladey says:

    Everything is yuk.

  61. salazar says:

don’t like the skirt at all. too thick and heavy for her little frame. same for the shoes. Bodice is super cute though. it’s not suppossed to be for the masses tastes either-that’s what marchesa is for. lol

But she is a pretty girl who I think is going to grow into her looks and body in tbhe next couple years and will be a knockout by 25. Right now she’s a little olive oyl-y, but in five years she’s gonna be gorge.

  62. Holden says:

    Super fug.

  63. Kkkaren says:

As we all know. Only the prettiest people can wear ugly fashion. This is KStew letting everyone know she’s absolutely beautiful.

  64. Janet says:

Well at least she showed up wearing the whole outfit. Robert Pattinson left half his clothes at home. 😆

    http://www.omdoubleg.com/fashion/robert-pattinson-arrives-at-2012-met-gala-in-his-underwear/

  65. Jenna says:

Super fug. She couldn’t even do something with her hair? Sheesh. -_-

  66. Stacia says:

WTF! My first thought was …Twister anyone?

  67. Raised Brow says:

Are the tire tracks along the skirt on purpose? Perhaps she wiped her hands on the skirt before ‘posturing’ for the cameras? I’m very confused with this look, and even more confused to learn it’s a Balenciaga design. Sneaker laces? Really??

  68. cris says:

Kristen is always interesting, always surprises! I did not like the skirt and shoes, but she is so beautiful, wonderful body, the hair is enviable!
I must say that I love to see her, always, no matter what you wear!

  69. JRenee says:

    all wrong hair-shoes

  70. Lisa B. says:

Guys, this look is typical Balenciaga.
Which means it obviously will not be anything like your average Marchesa prom/wedding cake dress. We’re all tired of those. I know I am, at least.

This is for edgy people, who are not afraid of trying new things and don’t have much love for the conventional. Sometimes Kristen tries too hard, I admit, but it would still be wrong to mix her up with the vanilla Emma Stones of Hollywood. She’s more rock and roll. And the entire look fits her personality. I think she looks great.

Even if the dress sucked, c’mon, she’s got Nicolas Ghesquiere as her date for the night. What else would someone need? I know I’d be happy to have him on my arm, 😀

  71. crtb says:

    Ug gu fug ga ly

  72. lucy2 says:

I like the hair, but the rest of it is horrible. Why on earth would anyone agree to wear that?

  73. ZenB!tch says:

I was going to go off on her hair but after seeing the others, she is close. If that top piece was in place it would be pretty but I don’t think any of this is her fault – except the bad posture.

I do like the top and the shoes but the skirt… BLEGH!

Who ever styled this makes me NOT want to go near Balenciaga.

  74. tmbg says:

I wonder if she’s stoned 99% of the time? Because she always has kind of a “duuuh” expression on her face.

    Not good.

  75. Diana says:

I usually love what she wears but this was a definitive miss. I loved the hair and make up but that dress and those shoes are ugly. Still, I think everyone has a right to make mistakes and she is still learning. I just don’t get the hate towards her and all the people saying she looked bored and ergo, is an entitled bitch. There are photos of her laughing and having fun, but I guess it’s easier to hate her. If she was laughing all the time, then everyone would have an excuse to say she’s demented or high. So whatever. A bad dress and shoes are not the end of the world.

  76. shaboo says:

I like her hair, I think she looks pretty. The outfit is awful. Generally she looks better in jeans because I think she feels awkward in heels and dresses and it shows in her body language.

I don’t understand why people are so into hating her. I don’t think shes particularly surly or petulant. She’s just a slightly awkward young woman. Saw her on Kimmel, she was nice enough.

  77. kira says:

As Mk puts it, “80’s hooker style.” Her face/hair is not bad but the outfit/ shoes are just trashy.

I have to agree with the comments about her being a bad actress w/an attitude. I read an interview where the interviewer talked about her eye-rolling as a response to questions. She seems awfully childish.

  78. C says:

i think the bodice is pretty, the skirt is ok, together it could still pass off as daring (i wouldn’t call it a total miss) but the shoes totally ruined it

  79. Ohdear... says:

I think it’s hysterical when Kstew fans and Twihards act like they understand the fashion industry just to defend Kristen when she makes a fashion mistake. It’s okay to say she made a boo boo, they’re not going to take away your super duper fan award.

No one forced her to wear this dress, she was probably given several options and this either fit the best, she didn’t care or some little turd of a yes man told her it looked fabulous. Never mind the fact that Balenciaga has churned out shitty collections for the past 5 or 6 years.

Yes she’s under contract, but I can bet you that her people went over it with a fine tooth comb so that it wouldn’t “compromise the artists integrity” or something ridiculous. Her contract probably says that she must attend a certain amount of shows, wear a certain amount of product and promote the label where she can for a certain amount of time probably around 3 to 4 years and then they’ll renegotiate.

The hair is good, if she was just going on a talk show or something. Otherwise, she’s definitely done better. http://ris.fashion.telegraph.co.uk/RichImageService.svc/imagecontent/1/TMG8891044/p/Kristen-story-gett_2057696a.jpg and http://ris.fashion.telegraph.co.uk/RichImageService.svc/imagecontent/1/TMG8891044/p/twilight_2055936a.jpg and http://ris.fashion.telegraph.co.uk/RichImageService.svc/imagecontent/1/TMG8891044/p/eclupse-italian-pr_2055927a.jpg

Besides, don’t forget…Rooney Mara was also there it was probably a competition to see who could be more sullen and entitled.

  80. Dee Cee says:

When you are much too pretty for your dress.. and shoes.. not such a tragedy..

  81. Meanchick says:

I feel like I woke up in the ’80s on Hollywood Blvd.

  82. Dawning Red says:

I dunno. The top half looks like she’s wearing a crossword puzzle, the lower half like a vinyl version of the Simon game, and the shoes look like mummy chic. It’s either some kind of bizarro fashion buffet, or a wistful look at how sci-fi shows in the fifties and sixties thought women in the year 2000 would dress.
